The Chinese Pharmacopoeia clearly defines the properties, identification, inspection (such as viscosity and pH), and content determination (methoxyl 27.0%~32.0%) of pharmaceutical-grade methylcellulose.
The European Commission issued Regulation (EU) 2025/157 on January 30, 2025, approving methylcellulose as a feed additive for all animals, in the functional group "technical additives" (emulsifiers, stabilizers, thickeners, gelling agents, binders), with the authorization valid until February 19, 2035.
